GameSetMatch brings 255,669 players, 742 clubs and 4,012 tournaments from both Belgian tennis federations together on one site. This page explains where that data comes from, what we do with it, and what it does not say.

Where the data comes from

Everything comes from the public sources of the two Belgian tennis federations: Tennis Wallonie-Bruxelles for the French-speaking side, Tennis Vlaanderen for the Flemish side. Players and rankings, clubs, tournament calendars and draws, match results, interclub meetings.

GameSetMatch is not affiliated with either federation. The site brings them together, it does not replace them: where they differ, the federation data prevails.

How often it is updated

The tournament calendar is refreshed daily, registration status included. Match results, rankings and interclub meetings follow the federations publication rhythm: they appear here shortly after being published there.

Every player, club and tournament page publishes its last update date in its structured data, readable by a search engine as well as by an assistant.

What we do with the raw data

The federations publish names in capitals, in formats that differ from one source to the other. Player names are therefore normalised, name particles included (« van der Meer », « de Backer »), so they stay readable and consistent across both sources.

Club names are restored from their official website when it is known, and addresses are cleaned before display. The country is never shown: the site only covers Belgium.

One profile per player, even with two affiliations

A player affiliated on both sides exists twice at the federations, once per federation. Here the two records are linked and one is canonical: it gathers results, rankings and tournament history from both sides. The other redirects to it.

That is what makes a single national ranking across both federations possible, which the official sites do not offer.

The ranking shown

A player ranking is the one published by their federation. GameSetMatch recalculates nothing: it takes the official value and converts it onto an equivalence point scale, so both federations become comparable with each other.

What this data does not cover

The scope is Belgian competition: sanctioned tournaments and interclub from both federations. Friendly matches and practice sessions are not included.

A player profile can be hidden at the request of the person concerned, under the GDPR. A hidden profile disappears from the site, from search and from the sitemaps.

Spotted an error, or have a question about the method?

An error on a profile almost always comes from the source: the fastest fix is to have the federation correct it, and it will follow through here on the next update. For anything else, write to us.
