What the calculation predicted
A first-set tie-break against a higher-ranked opponent, Valentine: that 51% win probability was no fluke at all! A couple of points the other way in that opening set and we're telling a completely different story, keep that with you!
Prediction missed: the 51% win probability for Valentine did not materialise, with Bajraktari (C30.4) winning 7/6 6/4 6/3. The opening set going to a tie-break does confirm the balanced encounter I described, though the uncertainty around her opponent's form, with known results at least eleven months old, cut both ways.
I did say you were both walking on as total mysteries... turns out the mystery got solved a lot faster on the other side of the net! Come on though, that first-set tie-break was yours, don't tell me otherwise.
Pre-match prediction
Valentine, the numbers are on your side with a 51% win probability against a higher-ranked opponent! Bajraktari's last known results, from over a year ago, include a loss against a player ranked exactly at your level (C30.6). That's a real sign you can take this match, go show what you've got!
Valentine van Herstraeten (C30.6, score 3) faces Denajda Bajraktari (C30.4, score 10), who holds a higher ranking. Despite this, the model calculates a 51% win probability for Valentine, making this a very balanced encounter. Bajraktari's last 5 known results all date back at least 11 months, which significantly limits their value as an indicator of her current form.
Valentine, your opponent's last known match results are from over a year ago, including a loss to someone ranked exactly like you (C30.6). Those are her 'recent' stats. Honestly, you're both walking onto that court as total mysteries, like two players returning from a very, very long holiday with no Wi-Fi!
